no it won't, it will only play in progressive if your tv displys progressive and if the dvd player puts out a picture in progressive scan, also to the first poster, if your tv has component input, and you dvd player has component output you can, and it will make a difference in picture quality

the question was fine, maybe he just doesnt want to pull out a million cords and pull the TV out if it's in a closed space just to do something that works

Ok, i assumed the original poster could match up colours green red and blue. Why would he want to plug in component cords if the TV didn't have 480p?

But now that I reread the question, perhaps be want to plus his wii into component on the DVD player? This will not work.

dvd players dont have component input (as far as i'm aware!!)

Most good DVD recorders do.....i don't know of any DVD players that have any kind of inputs???
