Demo Download channels aren't a good idea for the Wii because it wasn't built for that purpose. Nintendo's servers are already straining from people downloading Shop Channel games every week (tiny in comparison to a current game demo).
Anyway, you all forget that the PS3's download capabilities were designed for European and American audiences — consumers who probably have unlimited bandwidth because moving data overland (most of the internet is hosted from the States and Europe) is so cheap. Australians have no such thing as unlimited broadband bandwidth because everything has to go through certain pipes, and those pipes cost big money.
I second Renaldo7's opinion. An official Nintendo magazine makes a lot of sense.
