has it got a partition (hidden one) that it has backed the OS on...i.e a recovery partition...

Umm, that's pretty illegal in itself you know. Copying from one HDD to another is basically piracy and makes me assume that you don't own a legit copy, because if you did you'd just use the installation CD and key that you own.

its a legit copy i got the computer as a birthday present and it came preinstalled with xp but i didnt get an install disk so

As to the answer to you question.... First you need to delete both partition HDDS and make it into one.

Then format the whole mutha (i suggest long format not quick one) and then reinstall win xp

That shud do the trick

oh and the reason you didn't get the option by right clicking on the drive and formatting it that way is that fat32 in vista can only support 32gb partitions. you may need to create a couple of smaller partitions in disk management if all else fails

two outputs to two monitors - either one card with an analogue and dvi output or two seperate cards. vista is really good at setting these up

850GT should be able to do it.
but FPS will be bad if your considering gaming..

It took me a while and finally got through.
They aren't doing maintenance but rolling restarts tonight, that's the likely culprit.
