gradient is the slope of the line, it is either rise over run which is wat u want in ur right angel triangle case, so its the rise of the triangle divided by the run, so rise/run or vertical/horizontal

it can also be found with two points, i.e if u got 2 co-ordinates then it'll be like (x1,y1) (x2,y2) then its (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)

a.) (1,2) and (5,4)
(My answer) (4-2)/(5-1)
= 0.5

Transpose to make x the subject lolololololololol

[11-7x]/6=[3(x+5)]/2+[28+x]/3

Expand the brackets giving you (11-7x)/6 = (3x+15)/2 + (28+x)/3

find lowest common denominator which is 6 multiple the RHS by 3 and 2 giving you

(11-7x)/6 = (9x+45)/6 + (56+2x)/6

and multiply 6 to RHS to take away 6 and you know transpose to make x the subject.

This kind of maths is extremely basic at 16 years of age you should be able to do it with next to no problems.

My advice to you less mywii.com.au more studying also .5 is the gradient of that line.
