Publisher Koch Media announced production rights to the PC-originating franchise Secret Files Tunguska. The company plans to deliver DS and Wii iterations by Q4 2007 and Q1 2008, respectively.
"It is a real pleasure to implement one of the best adventures of recent years for Wii in cooperation with Koch Media," said keen games Developer Director Pete Walentin. "We will optimise the controls for Wii Remote and Nunchuk in order to turn a game that is very good already into a 'perfect-match' for Wii."
Secret Files Tunguska on Wii follows the story of a pretty young girl, Nina, as she searches for her father who suddenly disappeared. Unaided by the police, Nina joins with a young colleague of her father's, Max Gruber. As the two travel across the globe, they learn that Nina's father was involved in a research expedition to uncover the mystery of the 1908 Tunguska catastrophe in which an unknown force destroyed 6000 square meters of Siberia. Scientists speculate the explosion could have been caused by an asteroid, volcanic eruption, nuclear weapon, a small black hole or UFO, but the facts don't match any particular theory. Players will unravel the mysteries behind the Tunguska catastrophe and its connections to Nina's father.
According to Koch Media, Secret Files Tunguska will combine 2D and 3D elements. The game's characters - 25 in total - will be represented in 3D, featuring "smooth animations and atmospheric light and shade effects." The 2D component will consist of "110 highly detailed and atmospheric pre-rendered backgrounds." Players can expect the single-player story to encompass about 25 hours of play time. It's unknown if the DS and Wii versions will connect in some manner.
