Mario Kart Best Seller in 2008
Mario Kart Wii sold approximately 8.94 million copies in the biggest 3 markets for videogames, the US, UK and Japan in 2008. In doing so the title has topped the software sales charts concludes combined information from The NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track and Enterbrain.
Mario Kart Wii sold 5 million units in the US, 2 million in Japan and 1.94 million in the UK to be the best selling videogame of 2008. The extremely popular Wii Fit came in second selling 8.31 million units. 4.55 million of those were sold in the US, 2.15 million in Japan and a further 1.61 million in the UK.
The record-breaking Grand Theft Auto IV came in third place with a total of 7.29 million copies sold. The third placing can be put down to weak sales in Japan, were Nintendo remains unbeatable. The controversial game sold 5.18 million copies in the US, 1.85 million in the UK, but only a mere 256,000 units in Japan.
