News \ Man Hunt 2 Set for UK release

After 9 months of court dates and bitter fighting,Rockstar games will finally see their game released.

Set to carry a 18 certificate, Rockstar has maintained that the game is no more fearfull than the market flooded new wave horror flicks such as the "SAW" series and "The Hills Have Eyes".

The game was first banned in June 2007 and an edited version of the game was later rejected by the BBFC.

whether the game is actually good or not is irrelevant in my opinion. its the fact that these ratings boards seem to think they can tell us what we can and cant play. i dont get why violence in one game is acceptable and another games' isn't.

I have never played Manhunt. But coming from Soldier of Fortune, i can say this: Most, if not al of the fun comes from the gore and mutilations. If this, small as it sounds is cut out, it can completely ruin the game.

I'm over waiting for this game and personally id rather not play it in an edited form. The reason i loved the first game was because of the executions and now that they've been blurred its ruined the reason id buy this game.

im 25 and should be allowed to play any game i want without edits. Unfortunately its an issue that will never be resolved so i wont go on.

I remember hearing about this game being banned...I am a kid who is in the Uk...I was trying to buy a game rated 12+ when I was 12 so the guy in the shop asked for I.D...I showed him my I.D but asked why proof was needed when the guy new my brother from a job interview and knew I was 12 yrs old ( at the time ) and he told me there was a crack down on kids buying games they weren't allowed. I was a bit peeved cause I wanted to buy a game and was given a lecture about law...(yawn)

While I don't think the game is the best thing ever, I'm glad it's getting a release. I think blame is being pinned on the wrong people for a lot of this stuff, rating systems need stronger enforcement, especially in the area of point of sale. I have never seen anyone ID checked for an MA15+ game, even when they look ridiculously young.

I also think there's a problem in that our highest video game rating is MA15+. I like the UK age brackets much better, in that they have an 18+ rating.
I don't think the 18+ rating should be looked at as a way of producing virtual sex or insanely violent products, but as a way of better classifying a lot of the stuff that currently gets the 15+ tag in Australia.
