Nope. Which is bull**** because I work from 6pm - 10pm on Christmas Eve which conflicts with my Spanish traditions (we celebrate Christmas Eve more than Christmas day).

Also, I think I work on Boxing Day and New Years eve/day aswell. But for the rate I'm getting paid, **** that. I'm quitting.

We don't go to church. We just have a massive party from 7pm Christmas Eve til around 1am Christmas day. We open the presents at 12am on the dot mainly for the kids.

We're very devout Christians, as you can guess

Spanish, dude. South American to be a little more exact. I guess it's a broad tradition within Latin oriented nationalities to celebrate on the 24th.

****ing Sizzler ****s making me work on the 24th....from 10am - 12am too....****s.

You have NO idea how many people rock up ti that stinkhole.

FACT: 90% of them only go for the cheesetoast....which is, no ****, butter and parmessan cheese spread on regular white bread. Then placed on a grill for 2 minutes. That's IT! Big ****ing secret!

Working there has re-kindled my rage and hate for practically every living person. It's hard to remotely smile when you have angry or simply stupid (insert personality type) raging at you because "MAH FOODZ R TOO COLDZ" or "MAH BABEH SPILLZ SUM DRINK CLEAN IT NAO LOL"

Can't wait til after Xmas. Quitting with the rage of a thousand burning suns.

Why can't you just say that to your boss Elraro? Sure they would understand. My B'day is on the 26th of January, they know not to call me for a week before and a week after. This was a different job than my usually, just a part time weekend thing.

Some loon a year or 2 ago dumped rat poison in the salad bar in a couple of sizzlers over east.

They caught her doing it n she got charged etc.

I never been to a sizzler, and that clinched it for me.

Elraro, I feel yr pain, I get loons physically attacking me at work on a regular basis or patient's hysterical families yelling at me over bugger all. Our pay and hours suck also, but at least I can drug the patient's LOL

It's only the salad bar thing. It can be done anywhere. They probably talked to Elraro before dumping the poison.

Get out of Hospitality if it annoys you that much.

When you talk like that Elraro, you are basically not built for anything with pressure. Most jobs have pressure if you do it right.

Go wash windows on cars, then it's your choice if you want to make money or not. No pressure until you start going broke.

If you do your job well, you can basically state your own terms. Ask many on here. Common sense overtakes skills most of the time.

Haha, I can handle pressure quite easily thank you. If anything, that's one of the few things I can say I'm very capable of doing. You must understand, I'm currently talking to rerun on MSN and we're raging about just about everything for the lulz.

Sizzler isn't too bad. It's actually a pretty easy job. Just need to be on your toes. The only thing that I really hate from working there is the bad pay and the rotating roster. I'm a person that likes routine when it comes to working. Not having to say "Oh I'm sorry...I can't make any plans til the new roster comes up". Then when the roster DOES come up, you make those plans only for them to change them at the last second and not tell you about it. Then call you Monday morning with "JOEL WHERE THE **** ARE YOU? YOU'RE LATE!". Not a very efficient management team...

I feel the rage building again so I'm going to leave it at that. And before you ask again, the reason I'm sticking around is because I want to leave on a good note so I can have another good reference on my resume. Not like my last job which I left in under 2 weeks because I nearly got stabbed by a drunk. I love bottle-o's

Routine is hard for hospitality, you should tell in advance. If they change them then you should have a record of what you said earlier to some manager. It could be the managers, not disputing you there.

I've not had such a problem.

I've worked in a bar for 10 years now, time to get out a long while ago. I know how you feel with the bottle shop. It's hard sometimes going out around the city because people you have barred want a piece of you to.

A lot of the people realize it's my job to do such, some don't see it that way but often enough there will be someone there to watch my back if something does happen. Also the fact that my parents own the bar where I work, I even get blamed for her barring people so it's like double trouble.

Elraro, I'm pretty shocked on how badly your roster is compared to my sizzler branch. I, too, am currently a sizzler employee but my roster for four years now have been pretty solid with little varying days but mainly the same shifts and hours. But then again, I do food prep and salad bar, so that probably has something to do with it. Are you on service??

I'm working Christmas eve too, and probably New Year's eve. I think I've got it worse than you, Elraro. I'll probably do a fourteen hour day.

And I'm on minimum wage. I'm getting pwnt by The Man.

I would normally do such however work is still being renovated. Meant to be open today but they need to get people from Melbourne for the air-con and they don't want to come up for just one job so we have to wait for all the other buildings to finish.

Christmas eve is a regular working day for many of us. I work for a government department and we have to work, but under a flexible working agreement we only have to work a half day. (I believe this is meant to help with traffic distribution)

I gotta work christmas eve too, from 8pm - 12am And my mum said I had to cancel that shift coz we have family over for dinner but the thing is I had plenty of time to cancel that shift over the past few weeks but I didn't bother.

On the plus side I work Sunday night from 8pm-12am too, that's like $30+ an hour
