I Have had my wii since release and i am kinda getting annoyed with the whole game release delays. Now i have checked out ozmodchips.com and read all about them but i don't understand a lot of it. I need some help and have a few questions.

1. What are the chances of me bricking my console?
2. How can i brick it?
3. Will all imported games work?
4. If i were to download a game (not that i would) how would i go about burning it?
5. Anything else important about the wiikey you think i should know?

I would mainly be using it to buy the games that have been released in the US and not AUS.

1. Chances of you bricking your wii completely relies on you and your willingness to learn about the modchip industry. It's basically self-inflicted, if done improperly.

2. You brick it by updating the actual firmware of your Wii Console to another region. For example, appying a NTSC system update on a PAL Wii console.

3. Currently, there is a 70% of imported games working, same region games regardless of country release works at 100%.

4.Once you download a game (if you would, lol), you could use any burning software that supports the *.iso files. Several people prefer to use ImgBurn, I personally just use whatever software I got lying around. It works all the same.

5.Yes, you gotta always gotta keep up to date if you want to make sure that console (after being modded) is safe and trouble free. You have to apply wiikey updates (if there are any available at the time), also you might want to use brickblocker and region frii in some instances when (or should I say if) you are burning iso game files.

If the console's main purpose (after chip installation) is to play a majority of NTSC games, be prepared to accept that if your console is a PAL region that it may not play ALL games but MOST. And the chances of you bricking your wii using NTSC region games on a PAL region games are high, especially if you do not take the necessary precautions. My intentions are not to scare you as I found myself in the same predicament when I initially got my console chipped.

Thanks for the help... so what site would i to go to in regards to brickblocker, regionfrii and wiikey updates and are they easy to install?

Oh and can you convert NTSC to PAL or is it possible to get PAL games around the same release date as the NTSC?

Brickblocker Link
wbb.rockman18.com/

RegionFrii Link
www.wii-maniacs.com/

It is possible to change the headercode of a game from one region to another (use regionfrii for this) but this is only a workaround/patch to allow NTSC games to play on PAL console without having to turn on regioncode override. Regioncode override is a feature that comes with wiikey, so depending on your prefereces, you might not even need to use RegionFrii if your regioncode override settings is turned on.

I highly doubt PAL games are currently being released the same time as NTSC games, however, if you read the news section in the front page of myWii, apparently Nintendo Australia is trying hard to minimise the gaps in release dates between NTSC games and pal games.

I guess being picky does that to people. I own 10 Wii games, 10 GC games and 11 VC games, all of them top notch and worth playing to death. I can't even find enough time to play all the games i have, neverming the fact i want Sonic and The Godfather as well as Nights 2, Geometry Wars 2, GH3, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, Battalion Wars 2, Manhunt 2, No More Heroes and SSBB. There are plenty of good games released in Aus right now on the shelves. I'm not even going to start on your question 4: If i were to consider breaking the law and robbing devs of thier income so future games suck (not that i would) how would i go about burning it? Didn't your mum ever teach you the virtue of patience? Kids theses day.....

I understand where you are coming from foetoid but in saying so, you also gotta take into account that everyone has different taste in various aspects of life, in games to be precise. Take me for example, I've recently got a modchip installed and probably have tried out MOST if not ALL games both release in Aus and in US; but only a handful, nay, I should say only a choice of two games have only managed to keep me wanting to play more. That's not to say that games out there are crappy but simply no longer matches my current taste/expectations in gaming.

And in regards to patience, in today's heavily influenced society (technology wise)....generations and generations of people will gradually loose the meaning and eventually the concept of the word, and unfortunately I find myself belonging to this group.

what edgedancer means is the ability to backup games using programs such as rawdump or friidump on your pc(with the aid of the right model lg dvd-drive). However, this dumping method is irrelevant to the benefit gained from having a wiikey installed.

In this respect, wiikey offers the ability to dump/backup wii games (original or copies) using your modded wii console via a SD Gecko adaptor+SD Card and save it in your computer as an iso file ready for burning.

Lol!. Games are overpriced to make up for piracy, not the other way around. Devs lose income due to piracy and with todays high development costs, have to increase prices to make up for it. I also don't see what you mean by 'only getting worse'. N64 games were $99.95 RRP on release and so are Wii games. Turok 1 on N64 was $109.95 on launch day!. Ps3/360 standard game costs have gone up due to the much higher dev costs of creating HD games. Also remember we pay a premium in Australia because for a publisher to send a game to a country so far away like Australia with a relativly tiny gaming population, they have to spread the cost among the smaller gaming population so games cost more overall. Shipping a game to the US taps into a massive gaming community so they don't have to raise the price of individual games to cover transporting and manufacturing of the games themselves. Games aren't overpriced, they've stayed pretty much the same for 12+ years. We're just unlucky to have a small population.

thats utter bullcrap
games are not high priced because of modders it because companies want to make higher proffits . if the devolopers saw a bit more of the profits rather than the company keeping it they would have nothing to cry about.
99.00 for a game you finish in 10 hrs in extreme ripoff i say screw them dl all your games pirate everything you can movie

Touche. I agree. Prices for games have always been $99.95 since the days of NES and SNES, when piracy wasn't really that well known for consoles. It's all about making money. I always say, if you want to reduce piracy, make the prices of software/hardware cheaper. But I know that will not happen, so on goes the battle!
