Social \ 30 Days of Night

Ok so the movie has been out in cinemas for a good week or so now but I haven't heard many people talk about it. So last night, I decided to go watch the movie with the missus. Personally, I wasn't overly thrilled about it plus I had a killer hangover so I wasn't in the mood to sit through 2 hours of loud noise. But since the missus is a huge fan of vampires and the supernatural, we ended up going.

I'll have you know right now...this movie is the horror flick of the year! I was amazed at how good the outcome was. The character development was believable and thrilling, the special effects fantastic (delicious gore!) and setting was perfect. There were a bit too many cliche's involved which I'm not going to mention because you'll know it when you see it. Also, some silly plotholes here and there but overall...the movie was awesome!

If you're a fan of movies like Resident Evil or 28 Days/Weeks Later then you'll love this film. Hell, if you're simply into gore and violence, this film is for you.
But for those who HAVE seen it, what are your views on the film?

I'm not a big fan of Hartnett. Most roles he plays are very dull and uninteresting. However, I think he rocked the **** out of 30 Days of Night.

There were too many ellipses where nothing happened (not giving too much away) and there just wasn't any plot really. That's my 2c

There really isn't anything worth getting scared out nowadays. Maybe I'm just overly desensitised but every time I see a horror flick, I leave the cinema satisfied and hungry for meat.

But once you find a movie that will make you **** bricks...let me know. I, too, want something to scare me poopless. 30 Days of Night gave me my supernatural violent fix for the year.

Not sure about the movie Eight legged creatures or whatever it was called, that's probably a bit too stupid.

If I see a spider one time in the night then I see all these other black things (shadows even) later on.

As far as games go System Shock 2 did a pretty good job back in 98 when it was released,the storage bays in deck 1 were freaky with the poor lighting and random encounters with turrets, hybrids and droids (all the time with those protocol droid things going "How may we be of assitance?", "Where did you go?", etc).
