Social \ graphic card question

and how does the turbocache work? cause it says

correct me if I am wrong, but turbocache works by using your system ram as additional RAM to the graphics card.

This is not necessarily a good thing, as it voids the purpose of having a high end graphics card which is to lessen the load on the system by having a stand-alone gfx to handle the geometric calculations and drawings

Most strategy games (even the new ones) don't really require really powerful graphics card to work,something as low as a Nvidia 6600 or Ati 9600 would even do the trick. Higher would be prefered, however.

What graphics card are you running now?

You should be able to pick up a grahphics card for $300 or so when star craft 2 comes out that will be able to play it on full settings. And if u have a 7800gt/gtx it should still work o.k. for star craft 2.

But if you are a serious gamer and want to play the game any future games at full res, higher series/numbered graphics card is always better.

I got the Nvidia 8600 GT 512, and it runs the crysis demo on medium with no problems at all, if that helps any

You live in Brisbane so you really should check out www.umart.com.au They have amazing deals and prices on all videocards. Go to the site, pick one of the Brisbane shops (you can tell by the address) and go down the videocards on the left-hand side, then PCI Express. My recommendation is the Xpertvision 8800gt 512mb right down the very bottom (tho it is out of stock at the moment). I personally have an Xpertvision 8600gt 512mb and it runs every single game ever made maxed out and smoothly (i've got a dual-core 4400+ and 2gig ram to help) except for Crysis, which runs smoothly in medium settings. It all depends on your budget and i am sure umart.com.au has an 8600 or 8800 videocard you can afford.
