Virtual Console & WiiWare \ Question about VC games and controllers!!

Just downloaded Paper Mario, and it tells me i MUST use the classic controller to play it.
Is that true? Or can a GC controller be used to play it also? I don't want to be conned into buying a classic controller when all i really need is the GC one. Is this also the same with SM64??

Most games will use a Classic Controller and a Gamecube Controller. When you downloaded it, it will say what controllers it uses up the top. But I am sure it will use the Gamecube Controller.

When you buy the game if it says you can use a GC controller then use a GC controller and I think Paper Mario does use a GC controller but the classic is much better to be playing VC games with.

I can't speak for all games, but in my experience you are better off investing in a Classic Controller eventually either way. The button configuration in some games (SMB for example) is just ridiculous when using a Gamecube controller.
