Ah, those were the days...

The older games were a nightmare, usually you would have to just sit there and play non stop until it was "GAME OVER" before you could get a break.

Personally, I never had the Atari 2600 when I was young. It was a NES. Some of those games I use to play would go on forever, there was no ending. Donkey Kong Classics was a classic example of what I mean, yet I still sat there for hours playing it.

Oh mate tell me about it, you would sit there for hours and hours on end and all you you would get for all your hard work would be either a game over screen or the score counter resets back to all zeros(hence the saying clocking a game). One of the worst ones that I can think of is Pit Fall on Atari, I played that for soooo long I just gave up because it felt like I was getting no where.

Geez i really don't know. Alex the Kidd in Miracle World would probably be it, followed by Predator 2 on the Master System. I got so good at Predator 2 that i was able to finish the game 27 times in a row without being HIT by an enemy. It was my only game (besides Alex) and i played it for 4+ hours a day for months and memorized every enemy location and firing pattern so i never got hit LOL.

Um, I'm really not sure. I remember finishing a game called Crystal Chronicles (or Crystal something) on the Atari 2600, but I think there might of been one or two before that. A space invaders game, and a game (bare with me on the dodgy description) where you were a plane shaped kinda like a bullet, it was set in a desert and you would shoot at things side scrolling style.

I'd really like to find a good site that has lists of all the old Atari games with pictures beside them. All the sites that I have found just have lists and I'd have to click on every one to get a picture that I could look at to see if I remember playing it, because I have no idea what all the names are. I found a great site for old Amiga games, it was great just to have a look at them all.

It seems funny to see some people say that their first completed game was on a N64. They truly missed out on a lot by missing the Atari/Amiga/C64 days. I'm glad I have grown up seeing games go from dodgy Atari games to where they are now. I'm sure I have a bigger appreciation of the quality of the games now because of it. I'm just going to have to dig out the old Atari, I'm sure it's around somewhere.

ZOMG. Was that desert game scrolling diagonally and you had to kill a sphinx at the end of every level? If so, that game went on forever, after 10 levels it would simply go back to the start. I remember my father seeing how well i played it and told me that if i ever hit 1,000,000 points (quite a feat for a 6 yr old, i think the game replayed 15+ times) he would buy me a new game. Sure enough he did, and it was a 2-in-1 as well

Anyone here manage to clock the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on NES? I'm mean the original, not the arcade translation...

I got so damn far in that game, but still, I am unable to finish that damn game!
