Wii Software \ Potential of Wii Fit Board

A few people laughed at the Wii Fit game and its board but just perhaps it's opened the doorway for alot of possibilities.

live.kotaku.com/

From an interview with Miyamoto:

"Q: What other applications do you see for the Wii fit board?
A: I think there really are a variety of different possibilities that the balance board offers... the simplest would be a snowboarding game. I think you will probably see some products for that very soon."

So maybe we'll be seeing a 1080 Wii!
The board has a lot of potential for other games. What would you like to see done with it? Personally I think it could be used really well in a first person shooter with strafing and leaning possibilities.

Not only that...

Imagine playing a FPS game, like "Doom" for instance, you're using the Wii Zapper Gun.

To move forward, you walk up and down on the board, to duck you pull your weight down in a ducking manner, etc.

And on wiifitness you don't even use the wiimote for excercises...it would be way better if you use both ad eventually they will come up with more realistic stuff and make gameplay to the max!!!!!

;)

Too optimistic. What are you going to do, lift and drop your feet at the same spot to 'walk forward'?

The only kind of movement-based control scheme that would work for an FPS would be a tracking horizontal surface (like an omnidirectional treadmill) with headgear combining head-tracking plus a head-mounted display, coupled with a camera so the game can track your movements and posture at once. The posture-tracking camera has been done in an arcade game series called Police 911. TrackIR by NaturalPoint is a head-tracking camera. Head-mounted displays are cumbersome, but exist. The omnidirectional treadmill is not yet practical for use outside a laboratory.

The Fit Board could do leaning, but doesn't have enough space to let you step out of cover.

How about a Segway simulator?

Does it sense forwards/backwards balance or just the weight on the two feet?

Yeah thats what i really want to know. Im assuming its just two pads and only does side to side. I have seen a board that does forward back as well but it was a really expensive machine used for balance research.

yea some first person shooter would be awesome with the wiifit board :] like you just run around and stuff; ORR! like a GTA game where you have controls like godfather (fighting with wiimote and numchuk) and then movement with the board, pretty damn interactive if u ask me

I reckon it would sense your weight and on which foot it was on, so that putting more weight on your right foot would make the Board think you were leaning to the right.

I think it has massive potential as an idea and I think Wiifit is exactly the sort of thing that puts Nintendo way ahead of the competition in forms of trailblazing and innovation. will watch the wiifit news quite closely to seem developments, if your girlfriend/mum/granny loved playing tennis on WiiSport they will certainly flip over the keep fit aspects of WiiFit. and dudes will be up for chest expansion with 100 push ups daily.. Ha-Ha.!!
