now that the wii has online play why are game develepers holding back? i mean would it be great to play RE umbrela chronicls with your friend in online multiplayer or online co-op? theres an idea.

You're forgetting something really important. Commercial games take years to develop. Strikers came out, what, a month ago? It takes weeks to create a mere character model (skeleton, texturing, animation, sound and all) — imagine how long it would take to develop a good, bug-free, cheat-free online multiplay system.

Not only that, but Nintendo itself didn't even have online play down pat until months after launch, and didn't share around online code with third-party developers.

Wow, that really opened my eyes. You have a really good point, it can't be that easy at all, and here I was all bitter about Metroid not having wifi, but I would prefer it if the game had a great single player and no multiplayer to an ordinary single player and **** multiplayer with cheaters, bugs and other crap.

Yes. People who expect such features to be included in a game that is already most of the way through the development schedule have probably never touched a line of code in their lives, let alone programmed a text-based application, let alone programmed a graphical application.

Dont defend them. It is there fault. If they really wanted to launch a "full" system they could have. They just didnt want to put the effort in.

Exactly right. I have been defending the developers because people see fit to blame them instead of Nintendo.
