"PS3's on a marathon, not a sprint like Wii"
This may be true, but I think Sony are forgetting that they are in the same race.
The way the Wii is selling now the PS3 will need those 10 years to catch up to the Wii's sales, but while they're doing that Ninty will have already developed a new console and started a new race. In five years time Nintendo will be so stinking rich and they will be able to take more risks. In five years time HD TVs will be more common and the technology will be cheaper to produce.
Imagine the Wii's sucessor, with HD graphics, all the innovation that Nintendo are famous for, and all the games we love. Game developers are already starting to take the Wii route, even going to the extent of axing PS3 titles to develop a Wii version. So the next Ninty console will have more games aswell.
If Nintendo are themselves playing a game, it looks like they are playing it very strategically.
