Halo, definately, I can understand if everyone was talking about the multiplayer but even IGN was like "it had a superb and unique story" which it very much didn't. For the PS2 I'll say Bully, for the Wii - TP, for the 360 nothing springs to mind, the PS3 is looking to deliver with MGS:4 although I sure hope not...

I agree Gears of War was overated, i personally enjoyed the game i found multiplayer was of a high standard, graphics were brilliant but the games storyline was far to short. It took me about 4-5 hours to complete the game on hardcore and i wasnt rushing. So i hope GOW 2 has a longer storymode.

Before it was released "Rise of the Robots" was touted as being the best thing that could ever happen to video games. The screenshots looked absolutely awesome at that time (mid 90's), like they were from a Silicon Graphics workstation.

Characters had extremely limited moves and some character's moved were way stronger than others. The actual game was almost literally unplayable.

I love everything about that game except the length of the single player game. I don't buy games to finish them in 12 hours. Multiplayer helps make up for it.

Umm. Totally different things.

It's one thing to pay a small-time developer to use their online infrastructure to play their MMORPG. MMORPGs are addictive; that's how they make money. It's entirely another to continually pay for the privilege of playing a single-player game.
