It's a double edged sword, because on one hand everyone loves and has gotten used to having backwards compat and to be told now your PS3 can't handle it correctly...and on the other hand this is Sony's way of what I'd call "phasing out" backwards compat, I mean think about it. Sooner or later a beast of a console (PS6 - 7 etc) isn't going to handle crash bandicoot (ps1) anymore because it's too much effort and a decline in the systems overall power to make it happen.

Just like to point out Nintendo's backwards compat on Wii is tops and well thought out, between GC and more specifically VC...way to go big N!...I'm sure next major console release we'll see copy cats.

The price thing is stupid and I can't belive for once Sony are losing They REALLY screwed up on this one...looks like blu ray and an expensive price tag aren't worth it hahahahaha!

I think the major problem Sony had during the development of the PS3 wasn't the terrible marketing strategies or the unfathomable neglect of the average consumer or even the fact that no one on this green Earths actually NEEDS a blue-ray disc drive. The major pitfall Sony and all of the PS3 development team had during the creation of this over-priced door stopper was that they were sucking too much penis instead of working on a half decent piece of hardware.
