Wii Software \ Router?

My router is really pissing me off, related to the Wii. I'm guessing my Wii is too far away from the router to work properly. I can see the weather and read the news fine, but the Wii Shop Channel and Internet Channel don't work sometimes for no apparent reason. Plus, updating takes literally forever.

I've got a DI-524 Dlink router at the moment. I'm looking for something cheap and with a better range.

I have a d-link di-524 with the slowest Bigpond adsl offered. It goes through 1 wall about 5-6m away from my wii. And it does take ages for my wii to update,etc. However, I believe it is the wii itself that is at fault for being slow, not the router, because I also connect to my router from the street, about 25m away with my laptop and its much quicker and says "signal strength excellent".

I suggest purchasing a range extender antenna to extend your router's signal. Range extender antennas come with many different specs, however anywhere between 6-10 dbi seems to be the norm. (the higher the dbi the better) I've even seen dishes and 'cantennas' that reach up to 20dbi but I suppose that's only necessary in larger places which require wireless internet access. Anyway you can buy a quality range extender antenna starting from AU$15.00-$30.00 at ebay or just try your local computer store.

By the way I have a Netgear WGR614 going through 3 walls and about 12 meters away and it works great.
