Debit and credit are the same. Well to retaillers they are. Only you and the bank know different. With paypal the only card or account you cannot use is AMEX. Ive got a bank account in use with them rather than a card. (i became a bit of a ebay addict, credit cards are to easy to spend)

That's exactly how i do it and always have. They take it directly out of my bank account instead of my credit card.

Its well worth signing up its very safe ive never had any problems with it and if your selling on ebay and you offer paypal you generally get more people interested in the item because of the convenience of paypal,
