The Wii remote uses 2 AA alkaline batteries, which are supplied when you buy the Wii. If you want to use rechargebale batteries, you need a charger like the Energizer or Duracell ones OR check out the news about the JOYTECH accessories - a charging dock similar to one with the Xbox 360 controller

cmon guys, if you had done a little research you would have know that the Wiimote come with alkalines only. The cost of lithium-ion batts would just add to the cost of the console overall.... add to that the wiimote would then have to come with an ac adaptor or dock.

Hey can anyone tell me if the wiimotes are going to come in different colours, if so what they are? Or are we going to have to buy the silicon covers from Joytech

If the batteries are flat, you cant play the game, so I see no point with requiring a dock. Lithium batteries are light weight, hold a greater capacity and have a better cycle life. If there is some crap about only using alkaline batteries in the remote, I will not be happy.

all this depends of course on the overall charge life. If they last for a month or two with fairly frequent usage, that would be OK.

Energizer e² are the best for things like cameras and stuff if you want o use alkaline batteries but want them to last long so they would probably be the best for wiimotes too.

Those e2 batteries are designed specifically for high power applications such as digital cameras. The wii mote is not really a high power device

From Wiki:
"
The current design of the Wii Remote uses two AA batteries as a power source, which can power a Wii Remote for 60 hours using just the accelerometer functionality, and 30 hours using also the pointer functionality
"

30 hours seems pretty low, if I didn't have one I would be buying a 1hour fast charger with 4 NiMH batteries from tricky dicky for about $25. Or ask Santy Klaus for one if you're broke.
