Wii Software \ Are 3rd Party Component Cables any good?

Cant see how a cable can vary greatly from Offical to 3rd party. Its just a lead.

Get a trusted 3rd party, not a cheap HongKong 3rd party one.

any proof that they're not as good?

i'd think there's as much chance of them being worse than the official ones as there is that they are better.

I have some mad catz ones i bought and they work perfectly. You can notice the difference from composite to component but seeing the difference between average component cables and good component cables would be very very hard i'd reckon.

I have component for my xbox, PS2 and set top box too and you really can't tell the difference between the quality of those cables.

yeah i wouldn't buy mad catz stuff that had any moving parts, but as long as the plugs are gold plated and the cable looks pretty thick (well insulated) then they're good enough for me. Maybe if i was using a 50 inch HD LCD that displayed 480p it might be different.
