Not something i have noticed yet. I should think someone is playing your wii with dirty hands, but even then enough use and clean hands are going to leave marks.

I had this problem with my DS Lite shoulder buttons. I'm guessing it's from sweat.

To clean it, get some material (similar to the one used for cleaning glass lenses) and wet it a little bit. Then scrub hard.

I've never tried this for the Wii, but I have for my DS Lite shoulder buttons and it worked perfectly.
