I decided to join the board simply to vent a little frustration toward a game that i've grown to hate.
Hands down, the best Mario Kart game ever created was the the Snes version. The multiplayer aspect wasn't as item dependent when compared to the likes of Mario Kart Wii.
On the Snes, as many of you more than likely already know, blue shells didn't exist. If you sucked at the game, it showed. A skilled player could lap another player in pretty much any race, this isn't the case with Mario Kart Wii. Sure, there are a FEW courses in which you can lap an opponent in, but a small number ( Yes, i'm aware it's only a small number) of races are determined on how lucky / unlucky you are with items.
That being said, I'm extremely unhappy on how the rating system works. My rating can fluctuate anywhere between 7700 - 9300.
Before the game was released in Aus I ready many reviews / previews. It was mentioned that you would play others based on your rating at the time; however, i've been in races where the highest ranked player is sitting comfortably on 9800 and the lowest ranked player has a rating of 4800, I find this hardly fair.
Personally speaking, I'd rather be put into a room with players ranged between 7500 - 9000, this never happens. So there I am, sitting in a room with a rating of 8900 and the others i'm playing with have barely hit the 7000 mark. Per win, I receive approximately 30-40 rating points. Now per loss, ---
