what kind of router? netgear?

Mac address filtering alone is also not very secure as it is possible for mac addresses to be spoofed.

My suggestion would be to purchase a Nintendo USB WiFi Dongle, this device only connects via wireless to the Wii and DS. Plug that into your PC (running XP or Vista) and use WPA encryption on the wireless router.

Not the ideal but it seems Nintendo were a bit shortsighted when it came to encryption for the DS.
