I tend to find that people who are newer to console gaming, or are PC gaming converts tend to favour graphics over all else. For some reason or another, they want their games to be as realistic as possible and how good a game is to them correlates with how good it looks.
That is just a trend of course, some people who have been playing games for years love the 360 and the PS3, because of its graphics.
However, for me personally, there came a point where all the games coming out were the same. World War 2 simulators, Super realistic racing games, Horror Survival/Shooter games....Thats all there was to play on these systems. Also, the controller was getting tiresome. How interactive can a game be, if all i have to do to interact with my world is press A. (cue gears of war) Yes gears of war is fun to play for a while, but interacting with the world is basically pressing/holding A.
So when the Wii came along, it was a fresh breath of air. Suddenly i could INTERACT, and play differently in general. I have to say that i have had more fun on the Wii than i've had on other consoles. The graphics sometimes are appalling, but...all things considered, the games are more fun.
Perhaps the key factor is how tired people are of the traditional serious MA15+ game which involves shooting people.
On a side note, I think its getting harder and harder to shoot people on the Xbox360 and potentially PS3...at some stage it feels like you are shooting.
Theres no shame in being different, embrace it.
