Do all gamers use the terms "noob" and "owned/pwned" these days????

i've have been gaming for over 20 something years and these are gaming terms i never use(not that there is anything wrong with it).

Do you use those terms?

also.

In the 80s and early 90s when you could master or complete a game we would call it clocking, example you would say "i have just clocked super mario". i never see this term used on the net. Just wondering if anyone used to or still use the term

i use clocking/clocked it as ive finished a game still but i think its an old school term that kiddies today dont use

Here here. I remember the good old days of Frogger, Asteriods and Scramble in the arcades.. Now there was a challenge. Clocking a game was bloody hard back then. These days, you can sit in front of a game and beat it in 2 days. Here's your hundred bucks, thanks for playing.

I remember beating Sonic 2 in 7 hours flat, the first time I played it. Seemed a bit of a waste to me. Where's the staying power in games these days..? Where's the love.??

That's why I play Geometry Wars the most now. Takes me back to ye olde days of real gaming fun..

Also..

'Clocking' rules the roost...

noob and pwn aren't even real words. If you use them in sentences you are obviously a mamma's boy that will never move out of home until you get your first girlfriend at age 49.. You will probably die a virgin.

pwn and n00b however, are terms that have originated from gaming (PC multiplayer) and are now used widely to describe aspects that are outside the gaming world.

Yeah, a shame about that. There should me more rules about that sort of rubbish. I have the same problem with scrabble. We just bought it and the rule book has a list of 2 letter words that can be used.

EE.. is not a word. NO..Nada.. NEVER... EE - A scottish word for wool, or some rubbish like that..

Now to me the rules of scrabble have always stated no foreign words. Now they have changed to add, unless they have been accepted in modern usage..

Now how many of you have used ee in a sentence.... EVER?

Excuse me, how is the ee on those sheep? Could you knit me a nice eeen jumper?

So no.. n00b, pwn, l33t, and ee should never be used in real life. EVER..

I've only ever used the term "clocking" in reference to pinball machines. I have two at home, one has a six digit display, one has seven. Once you get past 999,999 or 9,999,999 the "clock" starts again at zero and you're completely knackered because you've been at it for a good 40 or 50 minutes of frenzied flipping.

I used to use the term clocking when I was younger. I guess as most of you guys agree, games these days don't have as much to them, and let's face it, if you get really stuck there's always google. Where back when I was a kid if you got stuck you had to work it out yourself or with your friends.
I occasionally use the term n00b with my friends from uni as we all did IT degrees and most of us game. But it's kinda more in a sarcastic way kinda making fun of each other when someone has a coding question.
