Captain Olimar’s in trouble again, but this time he’s got a sidekick to help him out! His company is in dire financial straits and the only solution is to go back into orbit and enlist the help of those willing Pikmin in NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2 on Wii.

Your mission is to collect treasure by using the skills of the half animal/half plant Pikmin tribe that Captain Olimar encountered when he crashed on the planet in the first Pikmin game. Each Pikmin type has a unique skill and you’ll need to be strategic in how you deploy them to remove obstacles, fetch items and destroy enemies. The Pikmin have three stages of development – the leaf, the bud and the flower – and are grown from seeds. You’ll need to build up your Pikmin army quickly and, like in the first game, make sure you look after them by getting them home safely by dark.

Things are a little different this time though and the first difference is that the Pikmin population seems to have…expanded. The fiery Red Pikmin, amphibious Blue Pikmin and shockproof Yellow Pikmin are still willing and able to help you out, but it seems some of the extended family has come along for the ride too! The newcomers are Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin. The Purple Pikmin are the hairy heavyweights of the bunch and can lift ten times the weight of other Pikmin. The White Pikmin, meanwhile, have glowing red eyes, which is a good clue as to their special skill – poisoning!

The Pikmin aren’t the only ones welcoming new members to their tribe. This treasure-hunting lark is going to be a big job and every Captain needs a mate – so say hello to Louie, Olimar's fellow employee and new companion. In Pikmin 2 you control both Captain Olimar and Louie if you’re playing by yourself, but you can also get together with a friend and step up the action in a race to collect marbles! Don’t lose them though…

That's what I thought about pikmin 1 (I think that is the only game of the new play control I had for the gamecube) as I don't have pikmin 2 on gamecube (I did wantit, but I had no money avaible for me to use back then - same with mario tennis and some other gamecube games which haven't be made into new play ocontrol) I will buy it when it comes out, or the week after.

That's the point of new play control. They are targeted towards people who didn't own them the first time around. Heaps of Wii owners didn't have a CGN.

Its Still a bit weird with the cursor, like you have to get your target and go down a little, like with the GC version, Cave Exploration is very old, and no rewind time feature, so if you stuff up tough. Stupidly i lost all my pikmin when i let my friend play, well she sorta sucked and now i have 4 Pikmin left with no time rewind .... . Yet for the small price it is very worth it and cant wait untill number 3!!

Time rewinds if you don't save and click go back to previous day

you fail at the game. Were you throwing one on to it waiting for it to be eaten and then throw the next one in front or something. I think I did manage to lose 30 to one of those once before I knew what I was doing. Unless your talking about the big worm type one (its rolls back and forth twice once it's woken up) underground in pikmin 2, I lost 60 there as I didn't know what it was going to do, but I killed it with my remaining 14.

Wrong. I've got the GC game and sold it to get this one. The controls are so much better it plays like a whole new game and the graphics are a lot better in 480p 16:9. I hated playing Pikmin on my big widescreen TV cause everything was stretched out and dodgy. Now it looks HEAPS better, well worth the price to upgrade to the Wii version. I am sick and frigin tired of people claiming these games only have a basic controls upgrade when they also have updated graphics.

I think Nintendo might be making Pikmin 3 but not for a while.
