My advice is to uninstall that antivirus program and install avg free for your virus protection and spybot which is also free for your spyware adware.
With these 2 Ive never had a problem

Plus a couple of others plus my antivirus seems to keep my system healthy.

I leave the computer on 24/7 and let the programs scan at 0200 each day. Seems to work well.

Go to control panel and "Security Center" icon (or double click on that bubble in the picture), then under "Virus Protection", click "Recommendations", then tick the check box that says "I have an Antivirus program that I'll monitor myself". Only do this if you know for sure that your virus scanner is working AND up-to-date!

Oh, and if that is truely indeed spyware/adware, I would recommend formatting your computer and starting over. Computer will not run the same after this. Even with removing the spyware/adware.

Most of those infections will be non-threatening. Just regular internet usage adds up heaps. You should have totally updated versions of Ad Aware 2007 and AVG Free Edition to help combat stuff like that. I've seen that infection plenty of times on my brothers 2 computers cause they look at stupid stuff online (like porn) and even glimpsing at those sorts of sites (not necessarily porn) can flood your computer with that. The problem is, some of the spyware has the single purpose of advertising anti-spyware (like yours) and is almost impossible to remove, even with avg/ad aware. Every time spyware of that nature has infected the 2 computrs from my brothers, i've had to format C: and reinstall windows and everything. It's a good thing every computer where i live has a C: and D:. D drive is used for games/music/movies/backups and C drive is only used for Windows and installed applications. That way is some infection or something sneaks in, i can format C:, reinstall windows, and NOT lose all my games/music etc etc.

On windows I have found that Spyware doctor has been the only one to remove this sort of adware. You can download the software from here: www.pctools.com/ The only problem is it will scan fine but to repair you will need the serial number. Which means either buying the software...or...ummm. sprinkling magic fairy dust over a search engine.

Sometimes you may have to try a few different software options, adaware, spybot, avg anti spyware. Try them all and see if one removes them. One of them will eventually catch it.

My advice to remove to remove them on Mac would be....oh hang... thats right... No need!! (cue Phats link to Mac bashing article..........)
