I'm paying for lots of rubbish things, like prison beds and meals for serial rapists. May as well pay for something not-so-rubbish while I'm at it.

There's only a certain amount of dosh.... So basically what you are saying is that there are going to be less criminals.

I meant it as a clever quip, not as a 'hey, we should take money from the prison system and put it somewhere else.'

Same for me.... Usually hit around 1.9mb to 2.2mb though, it depends how far you are from the exchange to.

dermy said:What the hell are you on about? What did John Howard do for you? What would Peter Costello do for you? What would the Libs do for you if they were in government? Frankly, the decisions made by the federal government hardly effects anyone below the age of 18, hance legal voting age being (suprise, suprise) eighteen!

Peter Costelo was a great treasurer and John Howard was a great primeminister, They both brought Australia up and they've been doing a bloody good job of it for about 13 years now. If labour stuffs up then it effects my family and if that happens it can effect me becuase I'm part of my family. If the interest rates go up it effects my Dad who is having a tough time with money. If unions go big then that effects my step Dad's buisness. So it really matters.

Do you even know what the unions do? PM Rudd made it very clear that he will make it a lot easier on working families, and I guess you'll just have to take his word on that.

Unions actually help working families buy stopping big business' from stepping on them. But it's bad that one half of your family needs the Coalition and the other half needs Labor. I'm just glad that the IR Laws will hopefully be completely scraped.I think it's weird how every single one of my friends wanted The Coalition to win even though their familes were the working familes, really weird.

Decisions made by the Federal Government affect EVERYONE. In regards to under 18s, the whole education system affects them, ie funding, national curriculm, public vs private, Rudd's 1 computer per student polciy. Minimum hourly rates affect under 18 year olds. I think it is a bit harsh and uneducated to say Federal Government decisions hardly affect any below the age of 18. Heck the baby bonus probably means some additional babies are born (which are usually under 18 as far as I am aware).

What I find funny, people voting for Greens, it's a vote for Labor. Same as Liberal and National. Labor were also number 1 on the tick sheet, what were Liberal, 5?

I've also read a couple of things here about small businesses and how easy it is to sack your workers under Liberal. Most small businesses want their workers if they are doing their job right, it's not easy finding the right workers either.

Personally I wouldn't wake up for a job that paid less than $40 an hour these days, I might have to with Labor. Also I am 27 by the way so I see the difference.

$40 an hour? thats well above the average for a casual worker, who make up the majority of the workforce these days. As for easy sacking under liberal. the way it worked was (dont quote my numbers) if your a company with less than 100 staff you can terminate a person with little to no reason. Obviously there is more to it than that but thats the short version of it. More than 100 and you still need to have a performance management trail (warnings, documented conversations etc) before you can terminate.

In NSW right now its 19.73 and nearly 27 for weekend work. Casual console operators now get paid well above their managers.
