Wii Software \ Best Graphics on Wii

RE4 and Zelda are GC games we know, but on the Wii they run in a proper 16:9 Progressive Scan with a higher frame-rate which adds loads to the graphics. I work with LCD/Plasma TV's all day and i see quite frequently first-hand how component inputs and progressive scan help out immensly with game consoles, DVD players and Digital Set-Top Boxes. If any of you have a Wii/DVD Player or Set-top box and a TV with component input but you aren't using a component cable and you havent got any of them set to progressive scan then you are really missing out bigtime. RE4 and Zelda might be GC games originally, but with progressive scan and proper 16:9 with the Wii versions, they look better than any other Wii game. The game i noticed the biggest difference going from 480i to 480p was Tony Hawk Downhill Jam. RE4 has the best graphics hands down via 480p tho.

If you have a TV with the Red/Green/Blue connections in the back, then you can use a Component Cable. Much better video signal and better graphics once you switch the Wii to EDTV mode.

I have a TV with RGB connections, but I can't switch to EDTV mode . When I do, I just get horizontal lines going up the screen. I can use the one in the middle (60Hz is it?), and could do that before the component cable aswell. Even still, I noticed a differece with the component cable. Much brighter, more vibrant colours.

Man i guess you do no research at all do you. The games were ported from the GC, the texture resolution and control schemes were dramatically improved, then they added in 480p support and anamorphic 16:9, along with improved frame rates. None of that would have been possible on the GC and the Wii versions look FAR superior. Ports dont look the same. You think the Wii graphics havent improved cause it's a port, that makes no sense. It was ported to take advantage of the extra power of the Wii and the improvement is massive. Games ported from the Ps2 to the Xbox had a large improvement too, are you saying the Xbox didn't have better graphics than the Ps2? Your comment is single-handedly the dumbest and most ignorant comment ever. The Wii is essentially an overclocked GC. There is a lot more ram, processing power and disk space, but the architecture is identical (GC had the most efficient architecture of the previous generation) which means developers who made GC games in the past are finding it dead easy to make Wii games now. This is a good thing.

And as for Component Video as opposed to Composite on the Wii, although there is no change in resolution, the frame rate is drastically increased. The reason Component uses three cables for video, is to allow it to shift one color component microseconds before the others, making pixel color transition much smoother then composite video (one yellow cable), 3 times smoother is a fair estimate, seeing as how it uses 3 cables.
