[edit] - sorry, it's 2 on the remote, 1 sets it back to a standard pitch.

There are afew tricks you can try. Left or right on the digi pad (holding them) while you pitch changes ball placement over the plate, A+B buttons together, that type of stuff.

i had a similar experience - except mine was a major overhit. it was hooking past, hit the flag and dropped in the hole. although i have got a legit hole in one on the par 3 with all the cliffs around it...

another thing is if you tap a direction on the d-pad twice to place the pitch just outside the plate then do a pitch that will cut the ball back over the plate (screwball or curveball), 9/10 it'll look like a ball but will cut in just a fraction enough to be a strike! very handy.
