Even when sending SMS messages, I still spell and punctuate correctly. And if my message takes up too much space? I paraphrase it.

I can read, write and spell and I still use short hand in SMS messages and some forum posts.

Communiction is about the intended message. If u can get yr message across then there is no problem.

I agree some SMS short hand is ridiculous and it takes longer to decode it than it would have taken to type had it been typed with correct spelling.

I also agree that kids not being able to spell is a problem.

However dont confuse convenience with inability.

Using short hand does not effect my ability to spell correctly. So if kids cant spell, dont look at SMS messages, look at parents and teachers.
