you probably should have rung nintendo when you first saw that it was broken cos now it looks a bit fishy because your going to have to present the receipt to nintendo to make sure your warranty hasn't expired and when they see it was bought at launch there gonna think you did it yourself!!!!

I don't need to present a reciept to anyone to prove my warranty.
The console hasn't been out for 12 months, and is at present time - unopened.

Regardless of whether I did it myself; they should be able to send out a replacement, and I send back the broken one.

Like Apple does with their iPod accessories.
