THE SMASH LEAGUE - MyWii Edition
What is it, and how does it work?
A series of challenges used to portray gym battles from the Pokemon series. As such, there are 8 Gym Leaders, and badges representing their defeat are awarded to those who beat them under their own unique conditions. Once all eight badges have been obtained, the challenger is free to face the Elite Four, who are in a class higher than that of the gym leaders. The first player to successfully defeat the Elite Four is crowned the champion, and future challengers must attempt to dethrone the Champion at the end of their Elite Four challenge.
Can the gym leaders only use one type?
Yes, the Gym leaders are basically restricted to a single character for their Gym challenge. However, their challenge may force uncommon changes to the match, such as a stage that is often banned, or a particular item on, etc.
Can I use any character I want?
Upon registering for the Smash League, you are required to choose 3 pokemon, or characters, in a manner similar to the Pokemon Stadium series. This prevents players from hard countering every gym leader and their character, as well as encouraging challengers to improve with the characters they are most comfortable with under a variety of different conditions. Because you can only use 3 characters to take down a total of 12 (+1), some strategy should go into which characters you consider taking with you.
