Sorry to break it to ya Jacobs, but you won't be seeing Battletoads on Wii anytime soon . I feel your pain, I loved that game from my NES days.

The reason why you wont is because the game was made by Rare, who you may/may not know is owned by Microsoft. If a new Battletoads game is made, it would probably be on the Xbox

I think the VC games will take most of my time initially until some non ported titles are developed that utilise the full capacity of the wiimote and nunchuk. Oh and definately gettin Red Steel

Hi folks, first time poster here:)

Well, i pre-ordered my Wii today, with the extra Wiimote and 'Chuck and also Red Steel, which i find the most appealing title to me (being 30 yrs old) outside of the fun games such as Smash Brothers and Rayman etc.

I must add i've been a Sony player all my teenage and adult life, although not a heavy user. I haven't had a console for nearly 5 yrs now (since i gave my original PS2 to my little cousin) but the Wii has sparked my interest again. The most important aspect of Nintendo's efforts with the Wii is to make gaming interactive for all the family. Now i don't have children, but when my fiance who has no interesting in video games says that looks very cool, well....... i think Nintendo are on a winner.

Thanks for reading all.

I'm also in the "Once gamer, fallen out but recently brought back to the fold by Wii" category. I haven't owned a console in almost 10 years now, since my trusty SNES gave out on me (yes-I said SNES is the last console I had), and haven't really played PC games (which has always been my staple) in a good couple of years. As I mentioned, I want Zelda and Red Steel, but cost is an issue as I am a poor person. I'll probably get a few VC games to keep me going till get some cash.

Pre Orders have ruined our chance of getting a good deal. Supply and Demand my friends....... dont keep ruining good deals with your instant pre orders. Why do you think so many companies keep changing terms conditions and inclusions YOU ARE TO BLAME. Like it or not!

I've been lurking here for a while, and geez you are quite the cranky one Melstorm.........

Ok, here's my take on the Pre Order thing. If you want the product, order it, cos i have a funny feeling that supply and demand might be a little lopsided.

What makes you think that you get the right to get an outstanding deal on a newly released product??????? The product (if good enough) will stand up on it's own, without the need for deals.

Is it a $ issue with you Mel? Holding out for a mega dollar saving on release ain't gonna happen i'm afraid.

What exactly is your beef with the Wii Mel???? I think you'll be happy come 7th December........ suprised even.

Im a bit like you im a nintendo and sony man myself.... i never really did get an xbox but they look like they do the job i suppose id just love for the wii to knock my socks off

No beef man just laying down the hard line now in hope that nintendo will come out with the guns loaded and firing... if theyre not ready for the things im saying theyll get minced.... im going to buy a wii... that is dead certain im just sitting tight for a great pre order deal and whilst people are "giving it up" so easily shops arent really fighting for out business in fact my fellow wii admirers are getting hassled and pushed around by stores like toys r us and eb... this is because they have the mentaility that "they have what we want" .... but we have money that they want too we need to make them earn it... yes no or is this all kranky... im trying to look after us wii people thats my intention

I think if we played our cards right we would have the power to demand a good deal or at least a little respect from these traders. People are complaining about my attutude... yet they bend over and say thanks to traders who keep changing terms and conditions so who has the wrong point of view?

No offence intended Mel......... i don't think that there is a right or wrong in this, but in my opinion by ordering now, you show support. By holding out and holding out you are doing nintendo no favours by making the release figures look sub par, thus creating more pressure on Nintendo.

I'm definitely pre-ordering Zelda, that's for sure. I'm with Sqwii, i've got a funny feeling that if you don't preorder then i reckon there's a fairly good chance you're not going to get it. And judging by how little Nintendo even cares about the Australian market i wouldn't even be too surprised if not all of the pre-orderers get it which really would suck.

"So, how many copies of Zelda should we ship to Australia boss?"
"Australia?? They play games there?? I thought it was all just crocodiles and kangaroos and some guys who throw those wacky Australian returning frisbees around! Send them... 5... actually, 4, to be safe..."

Haha ... so true. You'd be surprised how many yanks think Australian kids ride kangaroos to school. The UN just released their new stats and apparently we are the 3rd best country in the world to live in ... the US is 8th.

Maybe in the past but we have built up a reputation of video game players .. money talks and for quite some time we have been spending quite a bit on games. Big companies know this...thats why were getting our Wii within a month of "the mighty US" (wank wank) well be right fellas

True, but all you have to do is look at the population of Australia, compared to the population of the main markets for Nintendo, ie US, Japan, etc. We get walked all over cos there simply aren't enough of us. Even if we do have a slightly higher than usual ratio of gamers in the population. But whatever, I'm certainly not going to move OS any time soon, as Bowdy pointed out, Oztrailya is an awesome place to live, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere but.

Screw them we have pre ordered (a promise to pay without sitting the goods) in mass numbers if this is not enough for them then SCREW THEM i say.

What is this the soup nazi were we have to say please and thank you otherwise no wii for us. We have moderate numbers but our numbers like others pay cash (or our credit provider pays cash on our behalf) we deserve to be looked after just as much as anyone. After all we are (JUST????) large enough to have a nintendo head office and distributer in australia.

If we were small like all you excuse makers say then we would be gettin Jap imports that have been modified to suit our electrical needs. NO we have built our own office here with money we spent over the years treat us accordingly.

That head office should be replaced in my opinion. What are they doing there anyway? Here they are, about to launch a new console and the marketing department is sitting there twiddling their thumbs. Where's the advertising?

The only piece of advertising that isn't in a retailer's store was from those scam sms ads... That's it! I swear, nobody even knows that the Wii is even coming out except either for people who are into nintendo and have been watching the development of it or hardcore gamers who read up on these things. I asked a few mates of mine what they thought about the Wii and only 1 other guy knew what i was talking about. Otherwise, the only publicity it's getting is from kids walking into the electronics department of a store and stumbling across this so-called Wii thing they've never heard of.

That's pretty much what i mean by lack of attention to the Aussie market, there's not tv ads or anything... except for a few in-store "coming soon" posters. For a console is aimed at everybody they're doing a good job at not letting "everybody" know about it. Seriously, I think that nintendo seem to be underestimating the potential of the aussie market.

Just a side note, if all the kids in Australia knew about it then there'd be even more pre-orders flying around... Even more to complain about hey Melstorm?

But, at the moment why bother advertising???? The people who do know hav done enough to fullfill supply (atleast in Europe and USA), so why advertise NOW???? Advertise wen EVERY shop will have STOCK, ON SHELF!!! Then the money will be well spent. There will be advertising in the week leading upto the console. Most of these companies, SONY, MICROSOFT, rely on instore advertising anyway.
