I dont think the memory cards are region specific, but yes, an English memory card will work in an Australian Wii.

yeah hardware, controllers, memory cards and such arent region locked so you can buy them from overseas

the memory card isn't region specific but the stuff on it is. If you play Japanese games as well you will need to save it on a different card.
