I haven't actually looked at that link either myself but clearly many here agree this movie would be bad, might have a better chance if Robtot did it though as he made some good Guitar Hero references in his comic

There's no doubt that it would be a bad idea, for that matter I think Ratner thinks this also but is merely talking rubbish to try to generate interest in the (game) franchise which he has considerable financial interests in through his Brett Ratner Brands consultancy.

Notice he is talking to an MTV colleague... MTV = rock band?

As I said don't take it too seriously, I don't think there are any real plans to make you embarrassed about owning Guitar Hero.
