It's not piracy if the OP has the original copy. That being said, I highly doubt he does.

Buying stuff is just a matter of walking over it from memory, if we're talking NES Zelda. No button presses, if it's not working either there's something you've missed in game (ie amount of rupees etc) or you do indeed have a bug in there.

Also I've changed the thread title to make it a little more topic obvious

You need to walk over it when you MASTER USING IT .... which really means you need to come back when you've collected enough heart containers. My best advice always take the Heart Containers never take the medicine. If you still can't get it then your obviously not playing an official version at which point your own your own.
