Wii Hardware \ Can no longer connect to the internet.

Hey guys, here's my story.

I only bought my wii and Dlink router (802.11g) approximately 6 months ago.

The day I received it, I had absolutely no problem connecting it to the internet and haven't had any problems with it up until last night. None of my network settings have been changed but for some reason, I can't seem to get my wii connected again.

It finds the network which I named "Nintendowii" but upon testing the connection, it continuously gives me an error code (50230 - I'm not near my wii, it's something like that)

So I reset my router, created a new wireless network, wrote down my WEP security key ( checked it like 10 times over) and tried that on my Wii; again, no success.

I'm using Optus broadband and as previously mentioned, this is the first time i've encountered this problem. I've tried searching the internet for help but to no avail.

If anyone could suggest a few things, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to get back online.

Thanks in advance.

No, the only thing I've ever purchased from the wiishop is that trivia game. I seriously don't know what it could be. I'll try working on it again today at some stage and see if I can rectify the problem.

Again, all suggestions are more than welcome.

Just change the name of the wireless or wired internet box thingamajigers name on the Wii to the name on the box for example if you try to connect to a diffrent network on your computer and you see your network there'll be a name next to it put the name you see there for the networks name instead of NintendoWii. And if that doesnt work then change the namme all together cus somone else could have the same name as that and it's trying to cannect to that one

If someone had the same name in my area, it would show when connecting to the "access point". I only have a short list of 3 or 4 access points in that list which belong to my neighbours.

I initially had a different network name, I only changed it to "Nintendowii" when I had to reset the router.

I might try a different router, however, I can't see the router as being the problem. I mean, I have a laptop which is connected to the same network and it's running fine.

I could always try a friends wii to see if it's my wii that's the problem. It's only 6 months old so I can replace it under warranty.

Online Connection Assistance

I bought a Nintendo Wii approximately 6 months ago and found it rather easy to connect to the internet.

That being said, just last night I tried to play Mario Kart Wii online and had trouble connecting. I went into the Wii internet settings and tested the connection. Upon doing so, it came back with an error code.(52030)

Now for the majority of the day, I've been trying to rectify this problem. I've gone through your troubleshooting guide and many others that I've found on the internet but with no success. I'm currently using a D-Link router (DI-524) and haven't changed any settings on it as of late.

Today, I've reset the router, made a new network, wrote down my wep key (I've tried both 64 and 128bit encryption), used channels both 1 and 11 and i'm still at square one. Mac filtering is disabled so this isn't a problem either.

Technically, none of my router settings should be a problem as this was working fine for the last few months up until last night. I also use a laptop which runs of mentioned network and that doesn't have any problems. I'm beginning to think it may be a hardware fault.

That being said, my Wii still finds the connection "Dlink" ( name of my wireless network) but upon entering the settings, it just doesn't seem to work.END - there's more, it's just a bit technical and won't fit.

FIXED!

I changed the channel back to 6 ( the default ) reset my router, made a new wireless network and it worked.

Initially, I had changed the channel to 1 and 11 as recommended by Nintendo; however, that didn't seem to work.

I don't know if that was the problem but after the 10th router reset and changing the channel back to 6, it worked.

Mods, you can delete this thread if you wish, my problem has been solved
