Have a look at the specs on this one www.auctionia.com.au/
I know it is a little more (not much more) than you were going to spend, but it would at least last a while. You might be able to get someone closer to where you are to build one similar with the same specs.
The dual graphics cards are really good.
The only thing I couldn't see in the specs were a good sound card like a Soundblaster Extreme FX.
Leave the Dell alone, even my elderly mother wont touch the Dell's anymore!

Re. dual graphics cards, one card is always better than two. More efficient. The only reason to link two cards is if you're buying two top-of-the-line cards. If you're linking two older or, God help us, mid-range graphics cards, then spending a hundred or three more for a single great card is better.

Hi desi, I am suggesting two - Nvidea Geforce 9600GT cards.
We originally did this with the Nvidea Geforce 6600GT cards 3 1/2 years ago and the graphics for gaming were fantastic, much better than a single card.

Two 9600GTs do outperform a single 8800 by a small margin in some programs. Ranging from no performance boost to 12%, I read.

The cheapest 9600GT my local shop has is $209 for a 512MB card. Yes, you get 1024MB when you link them together in SLI for $418.

But! My local shop also has a 1024MB 8800GT Super Edition for $335.

This is how I look at it: I could fill my computer with two mid-range cards, but that means I'll need to upgrade again sooner, costing me more in the long term. I'd rather spend $670 on cards that will last three or even four years than $418 on cards that will last for one or two, and then spend another $418 after that.

Desi, I only suggested what I suggested as the person asking the question only wants to spend $1500 approx. and people are telling him to buy a Dell!
If he wants to spend more to build a really decent computer, yeah there are heaps more options, but with the amount he is talking about, and lack of knowledge on computers, you are starting to go way over the top in relation to the thread!

This is my input.

1) Laptops are not for gaming.

2) Do Not determine how good a video card is by it's memory, you can check out nvidia.com and look at the memory bandwidth and texture fill rate, these are the important factors of a GPU.

3) You can grab a decent gaming PC for 1500, but you would have to buy parts, either fluidtek or MSY.

whoever said to get AMD go jump off a cliff. yes about 2-3 years ago AMD was on top. If you had been keeping up with CPU advancements you would realize that AMD is severly lacking in EVERYTHING. AMD have lost all footholds they had and are now loosing money - fast.

As a computer enthusiast, newbie poster (at least here), and also waiting on new compy parts , I would say, if you have the know-how, make your own. Or find someone that does.
I have a friend, who knows someone, who is getting me computer parts. A computer capable of all the new games for under $1k!!!
I like being special...
