Wot the?

For starters, when was the last time Nintendo themselves came out with a lame-assed kiddy game. Most of my games are made by Nintendo themselves and none of them are lame at all.

I didn't even understand half of that comment, but if i can find 35 games to play on the Wii (and i am very picky), without including NMH, BW2, SSBB, Mario Kart, Sonic, Geometry Wars or The Godfather, then i am sure anyone else can.

As for the next BIG game, i am expecting a fully overhaulded online co-op Pikmin 3, as well as Day of Disaster and Project Hammer. Only a few months ago Nintendo said they were working on over 120 titles in total, about 70 DS and 50 Wii. I think we got plenty coming.

Tetris, lemmings etc... are popular due to their simplicity and addictiveness.

They are also suited for all platforms including mobile phones. They are simple and cheap.

Thats what will happen for this block game. As developers put emphasis on graphics etc... and up the cost of the game and suddenly you are paying $100 for a simple and addictive puzzler which I will classify as casual gaming.

Its a case of the hardware outgrowing the genre.

I also like games where you solve it by thinking and I also think there are not enough. But for the current gen consoles they will have to tie in puzzles with an epic adventure or the like.

The block game will be a waste of money in my opinion.

Never played Mario Kart DS. But this is what Super Mario Kart had that I have not seen replicated on the other Nintendo consoles.

. 4 distinct types of drivers
. Open tracks where you can make your own short cuts (too many walls on the other versions and the tracks are linear)
. One power up per lap apart from driving backwards or a few in hard to get to places
. Collecting coins for speed (none of this speed boost for holding the shoulder button or doing a trick)
. Being able to ram people and make them spin out based on strength or coins left
. Being able to knock computer racers off the cliff. More cliffs and places to fall off
. Shorter track times which makes time trials fun
. The computer characters drive a set time so its possible to overlap. No cheap AI although the leading computer kart can always find their way to the front of tthe pack
. No getting hit by a red shell just before the finish line and over taken by three drivers

Super Mario Kart was fair, fun and a great experience. I havent played the DS version so I cant judge it. But I know the other console titles havent come close to matching Super Mario Kart.
