Tony Hawk Ride and unique Peripheral revealed

The Tony Hawk series has seen its fair share of up's and downs over its decade long life span. The franchise has seen a new iteration added annually since its inception and with the constant amount of releases, the developer of the franchise had found it hard to innovate and maintain a high quality standard.

After the last title in the series was released,(TH Proving Ground) many changes had said to been made to the upcoming sequel. The original developer Neversoft had ceased its involvement with the games and instead of an annual release schedule, the next title was to be developed within a two year span. A new direction to compete with its rival game series Skate was also claimed to be enforced.

The result of all these changes in the skating franchise is the new game Tony Hawk Ride. Ride will be released on all current generation consoles (Including Wii) and it will be accompanied by the new Skateboard Peripheral pictured below.





The upcoming game in the series was heavily rumoured to be played in conjunction with a new peripheral and this was today confirmed correct. Tony Hawk has stated that he had wanted to create a peripheral-based game for quite some time, but technology only recently allowed Ride to be possible.

The peripheral will be bundled with Tony Hawk Ride and it will be required to control and play the game. More information on Ride and its peripheral will be revealed at E3 2009.
