News \ Dead Rising Controls Detailed

Capcom has detailed the controls for the upcoming Zombie bashing sim Dead Rising: Chop Til Your Drop. The Wii version of Dead Rising will be jam-packed with motion sensing controls and make full use of the pointing capabilities of the Wii remote.

When using a gun the player simply has to aim and fire for dear life. The targeting reticule will turn red indicating you have found the enemy’s weak spot allowing for maximum damage. To reload your firearm simply shake the Wii Remote and you’re good to go.

Making use of the motion controls (aka erratic shaking) when a Zombie latches onto you merely give them ‘the don’t argue’ and free yourself by Shaking the Wii remote. Other weapons will use the Wii remote in unique ways, the baseball bat for example allows you to shake the Remote to increase a meter to ensure your next hit will be out of the park.

The targeting scope will revert back to the more tradition control scheme. Using the nunchuck analogue stick you can move your viewpoint and zoom in and out using the Z and C buttons respectively. The D-Pad will act as hot-keys, allowing you to interchange 4 weapons at any given time.

And further to what Foetoid has been saying, if this game uses the RE4 engine and control mechanics, then there is a possibility that this may turn out to be more like RE4.5 Mall Edition than Dead Rising anyway, which would be completely awesome!

Now if only Capcom would announce Leon as an unlockable character to replace Frank... I'd pay for that!

Shiny bumpmapping and textures aside, 100 is plenty! The first village encounter in RE4 was intense and there were only a handful of people to deal with...

Anyway, I'm still hopeful!

Well, because the graphics don't matter, they are still better than last gen, there will be over 100 zombies on screen which is enough, and the controls will feel a lot better to play. Every game made on Xbox/Ps2/GC will look worse than this game, does that mean they're all crap too? Shiversul has instigated a new law. because last-gen graphics are horrible compared to this gen, all games made lastgen must be crap! OMG!. Graphics have no bearing at all on gameplay. Super Mario 64 is still as much fun to play now as it ever has been, same with FFVII, same with Yoshi's Island, same with Res Evil 2. I could go on all day. Just because good graphics are out now, doesnt make game with worse graphics worse games. This game will be more fun to play than the 360 version. 'Gameplay' means 'How the Game plays'. And when you're physically beating down zombies with weapons rather than pressing a coloured button, than the game is more relistic and therefore plays better. This game was a dead bore on 360, im HOPING this version will actually be fun to play.

Actually, my brother had this on 360. We played it for maybe a week and agreed that its generally an overhyped POS. I'm hoping the Wii version can actually make the game fun to play. So boring on 360.

Why will the wii version suck? The controls look like to be the same as res4, how about waiting before you judge.

Wow. Not only did they take on the RE4 controls perfectly like they said, but they even got an identical aiming cursor on screen. If they can copy the RE4 controls properly and implement them well into this version, this version will be by far the most fun.
