News \ 2K Boston - There’s nothing preventing the complexity of BioShock on Wii

“It seems like, on the Wii, there’s some education necessary for a large part of that demographic, in terms of, ‘Here’s why you should want to play this game, instead of Wii Fit.’ Every time I pick up a new game, I’m like, ‘Oh my god, they’ve changed the controller mappings again,’ and now I’ve got to, you know, reconfigure my head, just so I can start to enjoy this game. With something like the Wii, You just pick it up, and it’s natural. I don’t think there’s anything preventing the game complexity of BioShock from being on the Wii.”
2K Boston tech director Chris Kline said this.

Looks like we can have Bioshock but someoe has got to work on this but who?

Bioshock is currently a game on both PC and Xbox360 and will soon be released for Sony's Playstation 3

Even the N64? Think about it - which controller has surpassed the N64 for console FPS? It even let me play the wrong way around with my right hand as analog (having fired actual guns and being right handed thats just how I picked it up). Some say the Wii is 2nd to PC but I'd argue the N64 was. Single analog and D/C-Pad strafing, if you hold it like I do its very similar to a mouse/keyboard setup with your right hand doing the looking and shooting and your left doing the moving and strafing.

I wouldnt say this game was made for it's graphics. Crysis was made for its graphics, Unreal Tournament 3 was made for it's graphics as was TimeShift and Turok. All these games look better than Bioshock. Bioshock looks great, but since the game itself, the story and the general feel of the game, is so damn good, this game would have been just as awesome released 5 years ago. I do of course think exclusive Wii games made for the Wii to take advantage of the Wii hardware are better than a port from HD consoles as everyone and thier dog are going to be dissing the game cause it's not running HD, rather than comparing the game to other Wii games available and being stunned by the graphics, but i certainly won't complain with such a spectacular title being released on Wii and i will buy this immediatly. Dual-Analog has killed FPS console games IMO, even the N64 controls were more comfortable, so i'll be getting this on Wii for sure.

WTF. So im guessing since Halo 2 doesnt look as good as Bioshock on 360 (and would be worse than a Wii version) then it mustn't be that great. I guess FFX falls into that catagory too, as well as Black on Xbox 1? Just because better graphics are out now, doesn't mean every game ever made with worse graphics automatically sucks. This game would be amazing on the Wii. It would look better than anything last-gen and control nearly as well as the PC version.

Where in my statement did I say I gave up on the game? I played the whole thing through, not because I wanted to mind you, but because I was bored and there was nothing else to do with the wii. I spent less than a day playing it, spread out over a month of playing off and on, hoping the next part of the game would bring something better.

Sensitivity or not, the game was boring, lacked good story elements, I was very aware that I was playing a game, it didn't even slightly draw me in. I could walk away and get something to eat during a cutscene and feel like I missed nothing at all. The extra content was needless and everything optional felt like it was forced in the game.

But aside from my view of Metroid. Controller, graphics, and content would all be sacrificed in making Bioshock for the Wii. This game should stay where it is, away from the Wii, as most boomerang-controller games should.

And please, The Conduit? really that game doesn't look good. It's like making a reference to a great restaurant and you choose McDonald's...

No...just, no, hell to the no. In my opinion the Wii's controller is the worst. Sure you can do a lot of things with it, but at the cost of anything fun. When I play a game I want my hands to be comfortable, the wiimote feels like a stick you picked off the ground and it's button placement makes you wish you had more fingers so you can actually reach everything.
