Around the Network #6
Welcome to the MyMedia Around the Network feature! Some of you may remember this as the MyMedia Community Update, and it is essentially the same thing with an emphasis on type of content rather than each site.
This will be published each Monday afternoon/evening to keep you up to date with everything that has happened across MyMedia in the past 7 days. We'll also update you on what is planned for the week ahead.
Site Updates
MyMedia does Cinema Film Reviews!
We've made it our mission here at MyMedia to keep you up to date with all the latest in gaming by playing as many games as possible to let you know what is an absolute must play, and what to avoid. Now we're coming to a cinema near you (well if you live near us) to bring you the latest in movie reviews!
This is a bit of a trial at the moment, but it'll be in full force by the time MyBluRay gets its makeover in October. If successful, hopefully we'll be able to bring you as many movie reviews as humanly possible!
For now Tano and I will be checking out a few of the biggest films that hit cinemas each month. Keep an eye out on MyBluRay or MyMovie, what ever you prefer to call it. Gaetano started things off with Inglourious Basterds and I'll have the District 9 review up on Wednesday. Two truly great films to kick off proceedings.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Review
A taste
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel isn’t a perfect game, but there’s plenty to like about it. While it has its problems, none of them are really worth even discussing, as they wouldn’t influence your decision either way. They’re relatively minor and are buried under the great gameplay configuration and graphical charm the game has on offer. The character customization is a real treat, and with 500 quests, plenty of great boss battles and a cool and nicely executed story, Scared 2: Fallen Angel is a great action-RPG. The hack-and-slash gameplay might get repetitive, but if you're a diehard fan of the genre, you're probably used to that. It's essentially what makes an action-RPG an actual action-RPG.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Review
A taste
Hot off the heels of the latest movie revival of the 'G.I. Joe' franchise, Electronic Arts shouts “Yo Joe!” as the stars of the 1980’s action figure line return with the release of G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra for the Wii. Although of the same name, the game is not based directly on the movie, as its storyline kicks off from where the film left off. Seeing that the cinematic version was poorly received and movie tie-in games are traditionally average at best, expectations for this title were not terribly high.

Banjo-Tooie XBLA Review
A taste
Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are two of the most herald platformers of all time. Their mixture of great combat gameplay, challenging puzzles and vast environments made playing them an absolute treat. Not only were they two of the most beloved games on the Nintendo 64, but also two of the most beloved games of all time. It’s no surprise, then, that both have seen release on XBOX Live Arcade. Banjo-Kazooie has been available for a while now and now that we get the sequel in Banjo-Tooie, we get yet another great trip down nostalgia lane with this slightly upgraded classic adventure.

Inglourious Basterds Review
A taste
The purposely incorrectly spelled yet surprisingly fascinating title Inglourious Basterds is no where near as unpleasantly provocative as the film itself. Quentin Tarantino has conceived probably one of the most offensive, violent and downright silly World War II films to have ever been made. Yet somehow, and although completely and utterly unsurprisingly, the film itself is bordering masterpiece, if not for its ability to weave in and out of emotionally driven scenes with incredibly intriguing characters, then for its uncanny ability to tantalize the audience with hilarity, extreme violence and brilliant dialogue.

The PS3 Slim is Finally Here!
About
The PS3 Slim is finally – officially – here! We’ve known about it for months, and with each rumour came more credibility that the console existed, and was going to be released this year. Even without all of the ‘hints’ that made their way into the media over the course of the year this wouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. By simply looking at Sony’s history with its previous home consoles it’s easy to put two and two together and conclude that a PS3 Slim would emerge eventually. Now it’s less than a month away, but the question remains: is it worth it?

PS3 Slim Announced + Price Drop
About:
Sony finally announced the PS3 Slim this week, and besides a 120GB HDD and smaller size it's basically exactly the same as the current PS3. But that's not what excites us. The remaining 'phat' 80GB PS3 stock in Australia will be reduced to $499.95 as of today. As with America the price will carry over to the PS3 Slim when it is released on September 3. That's a $200 price drop!
Stay tuned on PS3 for all the latest on the PS3 Slim, including an unboxing an review when it is released next week.
