eGames 2009: Admin Interview - Guyver
Finally, I got hold of the guy who loves to torture...errr, makes the MyMedia forums a fun place to be.
I present - Guyver. And he is as sexy as everything you thought to be. He is quite fun to be with and comes with pants on, for a change. Since we are both around the same age, the following convo may have a slightly different/commercial slant. He was shooting (pictures) away on the balcony when I caught him.
Me: Who manages MyMedia group?
Guyver: It is actually run from the bedroom of MrWii/MrPS3 (Roy) and all the other Roys.We don't have an office.
Me: How long have you been around myMedia?
Guyver: It has been a long time, about 2 years. Roy does the selection initially.
Me: Ooooooohhh?
Guyver: Yeah, there are two kinds of admins. Those who are paid and those who aren't. Those paid ones are responsible for putting up contents and reviews and stuffs. Something like being employed. I prefer to call them content developers. If any paid admins/content developers do not post anything good more often, as in every couple of weeks or they take their own bloody sweet time, he will kick your ass. For those other admins, they are selected on a voluntary basis. Ben (ICC) normally does the selection and I don't think he has outsourced this tedious work. I am one of those unpaid admins and I have not been paid for the last two years. Basically, that makes me Roy's slave. Heller left and I don't think there is any replacement at the moment.
Me: When did MyMedia choose K-M4N as an admin? He is an American?
Guyver: We need someone to do the graveyard shift. Besides, most of the noobs spammers come from the US. Yep, those underage noob spammers. And K-M4N is selected on the basis of his experience (of an ex-noob spammer). He has been around the network at the same time as me.
Me: Is Girls.MyGames.com.au still active?
Guyver: Is it still there? It was MyMedia's idea of an April Fools Joke. That picture is his girlfriend.
Me: Tell me about yourself.
Guyver: I am actually half Philippino and half English but I was born in Australia. Something like a mixed ancestry. I lives in Dandenong at the moment and drove all the way to eGames. There has been a traffic jam on the highway, so it took me more than one hour to travel to the city.
Me: Remember those stickers? Any more of them coming up?
Guyver: MyMedia is not producing any more stickers at the moment. They cost about a few hundred dollars just to make a sheet of one meter by one meter and we have to produce a few sheets for the MyMedia sites. Lucky for us, We managed to save on cost as I could stay back at my workplace to do all the laminations and cutting up.
Me: Where did you get those medals from?
Guyver: All over the net, usually from image website like photobucket. I don't do flash, but Jotendo is really amazing at these things. He can produce cool medals within minutes.
Me: No MyMedia presence this year at eGames?
Guyver: Yeah. It cost too much just to rent a stall. (Those stalls are about three metres by three metres) It cost $5000 for the whole three days. For last year, Roy has to bring in the couch and his game consoles to make it looks presentable. After that, we still have to drag the couch back.
MeL What sort of games are you into?
Guyver: A bit of everything, really. I am more into the FPS (First Person Shooter) kind.
MeL What do you think of eGames this year?
Guyver: It could have been better. There was no presence of Sony or Nintendo around, so it was somewhat of a letdown. the best stall so far is the one from Ubisoft.
Me: What are you planning to do afterwards?
Guyver: I may try a couple of Red Steel 2 and go home. It wasn't as good as the one last year.
Note: Interview is edited to allow the smooth flow of ideas.
