MyMedia 8.0 - Request For Comment - V2

MyWii Blog

Hi Guys,

This is the next step of our design process, we have to decide how to allocate the pages, and lets start with the Home Page. Since most of you would like a smaller home page, we will try to compact most of the features.

Please let us know of the following:

1 - Combined News and Reviews or separated News and Reviews.
2 - Is Forum in a convenient location?
3 - Do we want a big list of games on the home page?
4 - What else do we want on the home page?

I like MyWii currently but i just want a status for ur user like busy, brb etc

And when u click on a disscussion let it go to the last page instead of the 1st or the page b4 the last page, it randomly happens :s

Seperated, without a doubt. While news is obviously an important part of the site and lets everyone know what's happening, reviewers need the exposure they write for - otherwise their efforts are wasted.

2 - Is Forum in a convenient location?
Absolutely.

3 - Do we want a big list of games on the home page?
No... not at all.

4 - What else do we want on the home page?
Can we ditch the status updates on the front page and have them only along the side of sub-pages? Otherwise, I reckon we should be right.

No. I think this is the most important part of the site and should be in the top left part of the site.. not squished in anywhere

separated also have user reviews and featured reviews in the same section, you can have featured reviews placed up the top though since you pay money for them to be written

no, middle of the page isn't the best spot for it would be better in either of the top corners

4 - What else do we want on the home page?Keep the community stats and give blogs their own section

Forums in the blue box above videos (cut games to have the size and move blue box next to it). Feature reviews, blogs, articles in a 'features' box where forum currently is. News separate.

Separated. Mixing news and reviews makes it confusing and cluttered.

Leave it in the spot it is now on the current site.

Hell No

Maybe instead of having things in vertical boxes make things horizontal like how games and photos. Having lots of smaller sections scattered all over the home pages makes it too cluttered.


How about a "stretchy" site for widescreen format users.

Put it back to where it was prior to v7. My main reason is that when you're capped, and waiting for the forums to load currently, you have to wait for ALL of the left hand side to load first.
3 - Do we want a big list of games on the home page?
Definitely not. Possibly upcoming games/recently added games, but that's where I'd draw the line.
4 - What else do we want on the home page?
I suggest two separate 'Update" boxes. One for new content, and another for status updates.
Also, possibly a (javascript?) way to update your status from the homepage

Return it to where it used to be, the top left. Exactly the same reason as Silence's.

I don't even think we need a list of games on the home page, I say remove it. There's no use for it at all.

Non-specific search bar
Medals and statuses separated? Maybe a javascript button to filter out the medals?
